Day 1: Cusco – Km 82 – Huayllabamba.Depart from your hotel at 6:30 am and drive to Km 82, the Inca Trail’s beginning. The first day is considered the training day, hiking 12 kilometers in 6 hours until Huayllabamba (3000 m / 9842 ft). Drinks, massage sessions, and hot showers are available. Day 2: Huayllabamba – Dead Women’s Pass – Pacaymayo.- Wake up at 6:oo am and get ready for the most demanding and most challenging day. After breakfast, start ascending 6-hour to the highest point of Inca Trail, Warmiwañusta, or Dead Woman’s Pass (4,200m/13,779ft). Then, descend for 2 hours to the second campsite located at Pacaymayo (3,600m/11,811ft) Day 3: Pacaymayo – Phuyupatamarca – Wiñaywayna.- After Breakfast, start another 8 hours hikes to the last campsite at Wiñaywayna (2,644m/8,675ft). You’ll conquer the mountain of Runquraqay pass (3,950m / 13,113 ft) and visit several Inca Site (Runquraqay, Sayacmarca, Conchamarca, Phuyupatamarca, Intipata, and Wiñaywayna). Day 4: Wiñaywayna – Sungate – Machu Picchu – Cusco.- Wake up early, hike the last stretch of the Inca Trail for 1 hour to Sungate. We’ll start after breakfast at your hotel located in Cusco or the Sacred Valley and drive to Km 82, the beginning of the Inca Trail. After meeting the team of porter, chefs, and guides, you’ll begin with a gentle 4 hours hike to the Inca ruins of Llactapata (2,600m/8,531ft), a beautiful Inca site located on the left side of the Urubamba. Lunch prepared by the chef, using local organic products, carefully choose to provide an Inca Trail with a food tour. After lunch, you’ll hike for another 2 hours following the Cusichaca River until Huayllabamba. In this small farming village, you will spend the first night in your comfortable tents with air mattresses, comfortable sleeping bags, and hot showers available. Full-service camping. Wake up in your tent with a cup of coffee and start packing for the most challenging day. After breakfast, you’ll begin to ascend through the dense vegetation of the cloud forest for 4-hours up to the lunch spot at Llullucchapampa at 3008m (12467ft). Fed and reenergized, you’ll start the part of the climbing for 2-more hours up to Warmiwañusta or Dead Woman’s Pass (4,200m/13,779ft) and then another 2-hours downhill to the second campsite located at Pacaymayo (3,600m/11,811ft). Full-service camping. After Breakfast, you’ll start hiking the second mountain pass, Runquraqay, at 3,950m (13,113 ft). Along the way, you’ll visit a beautiful archeological site with, after some time, enjoying the view of the mountain. You’ll start descending into the Cloud forest. Lunch is located in a beautiful mountain top called Phuyupatamarca, the “city above the clouds.” 3,650m (11,972 ft), from this point, you’ll be able to see Machu Picchu Mountain (Montaña) and several archeological sites located in the last part of the Inca Trail. The Campsite is Wiñaywayna (2,644m/8,675ft), located just 2 -hours from Machu Picchu. Full-service camping. Wake up early in your tent and start packing for the final stretch of the Inca Trail. After breakfast at the campsite, you’ll hike the final stretch to the Inca to Machu Picchu. Along the way, you will pass through the sun gate from where you will get the first glimpse of this incredible Incan Citadel. After exploring the citadel, you will have lunch in Machu Picchu Sanctuary Lodge and take the bus down to Aguas Calientes; later in the afternoon, you’ll take the Vistadome exclusive Panoramic train back to your hotel. WHAT TO DO IN CUSCO? Upon arrival to Cusco (3033 m / 11154ft), you need to take some time to acclimatize to the high altitude of the city. We recommend taking tours around the city like the city tour of Cusco, Sacred Valley Tour before taking the long trip to Machu Picchu. This way you’ll reduce the risk of getting altitude sickness. If you have on Schedule tours like Rainbow Mountain or Humantay Lake, please try to plan after the Machu Picchu Tour. WEATHER IN CUSCO? Cusco has two seasons: The rainy season from November to March and the dry season from April to October. However, weather in the Andes is unpredictable so it doesn’t matter when you come just bring good rain gear, also prepare for sunny days. ALTITUDE SICKNESS OR “SOROCHE†At high altitude, the air is thinner and each body starts to react differently for the changes in oxygen levels. So basically there is less oxygen going into your body than you’re used to. To counteract you need to breathe faster and deeper and pump blood more rapidly in order to take the same amount of oxygen. This could be shocking to your body manifesting in various symptoms such as headache, dizziness, nausea, fatigue, poor appetite, lack of sleep. Cusco is at 11,152 feet (3,399 meters) so you may experience some symptoms, on the other hand, Machu Picchu is significantly lower at 7,972 ft (2,430 m). So Machupicchu isn’t really the potential problem. The best way to deal with the altitude is: Breathing exercise. Deep breaths will help you get more oxygen in your body. The best way to acclimatize faster is drinking water, resting, having normal activities. Drink lots of water. This will really help you, but lots of water and try to go to the toilet often. Coca tea. It is in every corner in Cusco city, this plant used through centuries in Cusco to reduce altitude problems. Avoid alcohol and drugs. Alcohol is a big no at high altitude, so avoid the first days to your trek. The celebration is at the end. We will deliver to you at no cost. NUMBER OF VISITORS TO INCA TRAIL AND MACHU PICCHU? The number of visitors to the Inca trail has a limit of 500 per day and 2500 to Machu Picchu, according to UNESCO recommendations. Therefore, it is recommended to book in advance, especially during the high season. The trains are usually full so make your reservations in advance. You can book your visit to Machupicchu only or a ticket including the Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountains. As long as the name is the same we can update any passport number needed. If you have an old passport and a new one, please send us a photocopy of both. If you don’t have the old you can send any ID with your name. Remember to bring both passports when you travel.  DO I NEED TO CARRY MY PERSONAL STUFF? We provide a porter for your belongings (7kg), so you can go carrying only your daypack.  WHO GETS DISCOUNT?  If you have a valid UNIVERSITY STUDENT CARD at the time or you are under 17. you are entitled to a discount.
