Huchuy Qosqo trek takes you hiking along an ancient Inca Trail with llamas, alpacas, lakes, birds, and visit the archeological site of Huchuy Qosqo nestled right above the Sacred Valley. Spend a perfect 3 days hike to Machu Picchu and enjoy a fantastic experience that will last for a lifetime. To Book the Huchuy Qosqo trek with us, you need to make an initial payment of 200.USD per person. The rest can be paid in Cusco, online in full, or in installments. Day 1: Cusco – Tambomachay – Pukamarca.- Depart from Cusco at 7:00 am and drive for 20 minutes towards the archaeological site of Tambomachay. The hike takes 7 hours to the campsite at Pukamarca Village (3800m/12,467ft), passing through local communities, beautiful mountain lakes, vast grassland where llamas and alpacas feed. Day 2: Pukamarca – Huchuy Qosqo – Aguas Calientes.- After breakfast, hike for 1-hour to Huchuy Qosqo Inca City, located on top of the Sacred Valley, offering magnificent views. After exploring, head downhill for 2 hours to Lamay for a special Pachamanca barbecue lunch. Take the Afternoon train to Aguas Caliente and spend the night in a hotel. Day 3: Discover Machu Picchu – Return to Cusco.- On the final day, take the early buses up to Machu Picchu and explore the Inca citadel with your tour guide. After the 3-4 hours guided tour, have time to hike Huayna Picchu or Montaña (optional). Afternoon Vistadome panoramic train back to Cusco, arriving at your hotel around 7.30 pm. You will be collected from your hotel in Cusco at 7:00 am and drive for 20 minutes towards the archaeological site of Tambomachay (3812 m /12506 Ft), and start the trek. Here, you’ll start the expedition to the legendary lost city of the Incas, Machu Picchu. The first part is a gentle 4- hours climb, passing through local communities, beautiful mountain lakes, large grassland where llamas and alpacas feed. This area is home to various birds, including Wallatas (love birds), partridges, and lapwings, all of which are regularly spotted throughout the day. Lunch is at Koricocha lake (4049 m / 13284 ft). After enjoying the fresh meals prepared by your trekking chef, continue three more hours up and down to the campsite is located at the small Andean village of Pukamarca (3800m/12,467ft). Here, it is a good opportunity to understand their lifestyle, interact with local children, and visit the houses to see how they live and what they have. You can take some gifts if you like. Awakening in the Peruvian Andes with the most amazing views is an unforgettable experience. After breakfast, you’ll for 1 hour and visit the Huchuy Qosqo Inca City, located on top of the Sacred Valley; a city built more than 500 hundred years ago by the Incas. Now lies on top of the mountain, offering us a magnificent view with buildings, sacred temples, farming terraces, storehouses, water channels, and an Inca reservoir. After exploring with your tour guide, you’ll time to enjoy yourself. Then, head to Lamay for 2 hours; lunch today is a special Pachamanca underground barbecue; you’ll participate in burying the different kinds of meat, vegetables, fruits, and finally, enjoy the feast. After lunch, drive to Ollantaytambo, a beautiful city located in the middle of the mountains with many natural and cultural history. We will have time to explore the city considered “the last living Inca city.â€Â Dinner will be at a local restaurant to later catch at 7 p.m. train to Aguas Calientes. Upon arrival in Aguas Calientes, you will register at your hotel and relax after the Huchuy Qosqo Trek. On teh final day, wake up early to take the first bus up to Machu Picchu. You’ll enter Machu Picchu and explore with your tour guide. First, take a short hike to Sungate or Inca Bridge, then follow your tour guide as you learn about the Incas and visit all the most famous temples, palaces, streets. Afterward, take some free time to explore the site by yourself or take the extra hike to either Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu mountain ( not included and completely different from Machu Picchu Citadel). Once you finish with Machu Picchu, you’ll take the 30 minutes bus down to Aguas Calientes, have lunch in the city (not included). Later in the afternoon, take the Vistadome Panoramic Train back to Ollantaytambo, where the Ultimate Trekking team will be waiting for you and transfer you back to Cusco. The arrival of your hotel is around 7.30 pm, where we finish the Huchuy Qosqo Trek.
WHAT TO DO IN CUSCO? Upon arrival to Cusco (3033 m / 11154ft), you need to take some time to acclimatize to the high altitude of the city. We recommend taking tours around the city like the city tour of Cusco, Sacred Valley Tour before taking the long trip to Machu Picchu. This way you’ll reduce the risk of getting altitude sickness. If you have on Schedule tours like Rainbow Mountain or Humantay Lake, please try to plan after the Machu Picchu Tour. WEATHER IN CUSCO? Cusco has two seasons: The rainy season from November to March and the dry season from April to October. However, weather in the Andes is unpredictable so it doesn’t matter when you come just bring good rain gear, also prepare for sunny days. ALTITUDE SICKNESS OR “SOROCHE†At high altitude, the air is thinner and each body starts to react differently for the changes in oxygen levels. So basically there is less oxygen going into your body than you’re used to. To counteract you need to breathe faster and deeper and pump blood more rapidly in order to take the same amount of oxygen. This could be shocking to your body manifesting in various symptoms such as headache, dizziness, nausea, fatigue, poor appetite, lack of sleep. Cusco is at 11,152 feet (3,399 meters) so you may experience some symptoms, on the other hand, Machu Picchu is significantly lower at 7,972 ft (2,430 m). So Machupicchu isn’t really the potential problem. The best way to deal with the altitude is: Breathing exercise. Deep breaths will help you get more oxygen in your body. The best way to acclimatize faster is drinking water, resting, having normal activities. Drink lots of water. This will really help you, but lots of water and try to go to the toilet often. Coca tea. It is in every corner in Cusco city, this plant used through centuries in Cusco to reduce altitude problems. Avoid alcohol and drugs. Alcohol is a big no at high altitude, so avoid the first days to your trek. The celebration is at the end. We will deliver to you at no cost. NUMBER OF VISITORS TO INCA TRAIL AND MACHU PICCHU? The number of visitors to the Inca trail has a limit of 500 per day and 2500 to Machu Picchu, according to UNESCO recommendations. Therefore, it is recommended to book in advance, especially during the high season. The trains are usually full so make your reservations in advance. You can book your visit to Machupicchu only or a ticket including the Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountains. As long as the name is the same we can update any passport number needed. If you have an old passport and a new one, please send us a photocopy of both. If you don’t have the old you can send any ID with your name. Remember to bring both passports when you travel.  DO I NEED TO CARRY MY PERSONAL STUFF?
